1 reason for a Home Team

I asked some people to make videos of what they liked the most about their Home Team and why someone should join a Home Team. I wasn't quite expecting this...

Starting New Home Team Semester - Oct. 10th

Hey guys, we are currently signing-up for our new fall Home Team semester. This Semester starts the week of October 10th and runs for 8 weeks. Check out the links to the right for specifics on this semesters Home Teams. Don't miss out, sign-up today! Email Neal@churchatthebay.com to sign-up or with any questions you have.

Maximize Your Home Team Experience

Home Teams are kicking off this week! If you've not yet signed up, we've got a great line up. Whether you've been coming to Church at the Bay for 3 years or for 3 weeks, joining a Home Team is the best way to get involved and to connect with other Christians. Check out the catalog if you haven't yet chosen a Home Team or email Neal with any questions.

Once you've committed to a Home Team, here are some ways to get the most out of yours:

1) Commit to attending regularly. Weeknights can be rough, especially for those of us who are working full-time or are mommies with dinner, homework and schedules to keep up with. Resolve in your heart that this commitment will be worth it and that you're modeling to your kids the priority God has in your life. And then, just do it!

2) Push yourself out of your Comfort Zone. It's easy to show up, sit back and let the real "talkers" in the group dominate conversation. Go ahead and take some risks! Allow yourself to try answering the more vulnerable or difficult questions, even if it means you preface your answer with, "I'm not sure this answers the question, but..." Your authenticity could change the dynamic of the conversation that night, leading everyone else to a more meaningful dialogue.

3) Grab coffee or lunch with another Home Team member once a month. You already have a lot in common with the other people in your Home Team--you go to Church at the Bay, you're interested in your Home Team's curriculum, and you're probably in a similar life stage. Take your friendships to the next level by investing in time outside of Home Team and Church to get to know them better.

4) Reflect on the Home Team challenges during the week. If there's homework--do it! Whether it's a relational challenge or a chapter to read, make a realistic plan to complete your homework before the next Home Team's meeting. If there's not assigned homework, make sure you're taking the time each day to reflect on the content discussed in Home Team. When God moves you, whether it's a challenge to change, or a promise that comforts, let it "marinate" that week by taking time to reflect and pray.

With these four commitments, and a heart open to new friendships and God's challenges, you're sure to have a meaningful Home Team semester!

Spring 2010 Curriculum Descriptions

Curriculum Descriptions

Recovery Leadership Training- There are people all around us struggling with substance abuse, sexual addictions, eating disorders, and other addictive behaviors. Discover how to use your past struggles or simply your passion to help people find freedom in Christ from these addictions

Crazy Love- Are you hungry for an authentic faith that breaks you free from the status quo and addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? Discover that the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts - it's genuine relationship with God.

It’s Personal- Adults don’t become followers of Christ by getting all their questions and doubts answered. In most instances, something happens that shrinks those questions. And that something is always personal. You don't have to understand everything to believe in something.

Marriage: Built to Last- Are you looking to improve or invest in your marriage? This study combines real stories of struggles with Biblical teaching to address topics such as: expectations, communication, fighting, sex and more. This study can help every marriage take it to the next level.

Purpose Driven Life- The most basic question everyone faces in life is Why am I here? What is my purpose? Rick Warren says the starting place must be with God and his eternal purposes for each life. Real meaning and significance comes from understanding and fulfilling God’s purposes for putting us on earth.

On Location- Learn what Jesus meant when he said we are to be “salt“ and “light” to the world. Learn how to make an impact where you live, work, and play.

Organic God- In our ever changing world, simplicity is a craving. What if we could simplify our faith? Imagine what it would be like to have an organic relationship with God; stripped of all pollutants, addictives, and distractions.

Take It To The Limit- We tend to live life on the edge of our limits. We pack our schedules and empty our bank accounts. Discover God’s answer to our self-destructive propensity to life as if we have no limits.

You’ve Got Style- The way each one of us draws near to God is unique. Quiet, loud, outside, within, in word or deed. Which style of drawing near to God fits you?

Your Move- Throughout our lives, we are confronted with decisions we never anticipated having to make. Learn four powerful questions that will help you determine your best move.
